[04:25] <paulscreen> hi there
[04:26] <stellar-slack1> Hello @paulscreen
[04:28] <paulscreen> im looking for a bit of background information on stellar, beyond what is available on the website. I'm the owner of a marketplace where people can buy/sell anything they want and pay/receive Bitcoin and Litecoin. I'm researching possible new coins and Stellar is on my list...
[04:28] <stellar-slack1> that sounds great  what's your site?
[04:28] <stellar-slack1> and feel free to ask any specific questions you might have
[04:28] <paulscreen> cryptothrift.com
[04:29] <stellar-slack1> nice!
[04:29] <paulscreen> but i'd rather take this conversation private if that is possible?
[04:30] <stellar-slack1> you're welcome to email mailto:community@stellar.org|community@stellar.org, or go through our business development contact page here: https://www.stellar.org/contact/request-information/
[04:30] <paulscreen> thanks. that's exactly what I'm looking for.
[04:30] <stellar-slack1> no problem!
[04:30] <stellar-slack1> hope to hear from you soon
[04:33] <paulscreen> im sure you will. on the surface stellar could offer something unique for our users.
[04:34] <stellar-slack1> I mean, as community manager here I'm certainly not impartial, but I think so  would be happy to chat with you about how to use the Stellar network for your business, rather than just accepting STR in your store. Fast transaction times, and the potential to accept any kind of currency
[04:36] <paulscreen> yes that's what is attracting me. We're looking for coins that can offer more than just yet-another-digital-currency.
[04:36] <paulscreen> having easy to use Fiat on/off ramps is attractive
[04:38] <paulscreen> it's hard to guage the popularity of stellar at the moment. trading volume isn't really an indicator. Is there any measure of distribution?
[04:40] <stellar-slack1> I suppose one important metric is the number of gateways (onramps and offramps to the network) is a good place to start. You can check some of them out here: https://www.stellar.org/community/contributions/#Integrations
[04:41] <stellar-slack1> we're fairly young (launched in August last year), but we're hopeful that the network will continue to expand
[04:41] <paulscreen> should have picked up that you are on slack :) I'll post an invite now...
[04:42] <stellar-slack1> heh, yes, it's mirrored, but whichever you like is fine
[04:43] <paulscreen> ah ok, I'll stay here then.
[04:46] <stellar-slack1> oh hey
[04:46] <stellar-slack1> you guys want a short blurb in spanish or sth
[04:46] <stellar-slack1> i have some knowledge of the language
[04:47] <paulscreen> is there a list of vendors already integrated with the stellar network?
[04:56] <stellar-slack1> not staff, but i think that's what the services heading indicates on the link
[05:01] <paulscreen> lastpass does not like stellar.org
[05:02] <paulscreen> also im getting "
[05:02] <paulscreen> Error connecting wallet server. Please try again later" when changing my password...
[05:04] <paulscreen> ok im having issues siging up :( getting incorrect password. recovered/reset my password, try to log in again with new password, and invalid username/password again
[05:06] <paulscreen> nvm, logged in on 3rd attempt. but I did use the same password each time (from lastpass) so something not quite right there
[17:20] <stellar-slack1> @owlsley: re: Spanish yes please! Translations are incredibly helpful
[17:21] <stellar-slack1> @paulscreen ah, that's unrelated to lastpass. We were having wallet connectivity issues last night (that we believe to be resolved now, so please do let us know if they're persistent for you.)
[17:21] <stellar-slack1> sorry about that!
[17:21] <stellar-slack1> welcome @xlmtrade and @werner
[19:18] <stellar-slack1> @eva: yeah, i actually found the translation stuff on trello
[19:18] <stellar-slack1> great!
[19:19] <stellar-slack1> we also have a volunteer mailing list for translators
[19:19] <stellar-slack1> if you're interested
[19:19] <stellar-slack1> but yeah, getting onboarding materials localized is super important
[19:19] <stellar-slack1> esp. things about account security
[19:20] <stellar-slack1> I am looking for a little more technical and design help for my stellar related currency project. If anyone is interested in hearing more please ping me directly. Thanks.
[19:21] <stellar-slack1> @garth: thanks for letting us know. would you potentially use a slack channel specifically for finding help / collaborators?
[19:22] <stellar-slack1> +1 to @vanessa's suggestion
[19:22] <stellar-slack1> people could put out help wanted/help offered "ads"
[19:22] <stellar-slack1> Is there a channel for that?
[19:22] <stellar-slack1> not yet--but wondering if you'd use it
[19:23] <stellar-slack1> When I worked in open source classroom projects, we'd often open an issue to find collaborators
[19:24] <stellar-slack1> I would love it if there are there are other people besides myself on it. It seems like a good idea and worthy of its own channel.
[19:25] <stellar-slack1> kk thanks for the vote
[22:48] <stellar-slack1> The Gates Foundation published a new site with a bunch of resources on "helping build interconnected digital systems to bring the poor into the global financial system." Very much in line with Stellar's vision of the financial future, and there are some awesome resources for busdev folks and developers. https://leveloneproject.org/
